We’re onto week 5 or 6 now of quarantine, seems like we have no idea what day it is anymore or how long this has gone on. I do know that we’re looking forward to photographing humans again. This has been a very challenging time for everyone.
We got really lucky getting this shoot in before things started getting locked down. Jen and Jon have 2 older kids plus their newborn. They have a beautiful home in a more rural part of Clarksburg, Maryland. They have an awesome backyard where Jon has kept baby chickens and even raises honey bees. The last thing they wanted to do was pack everyone up, fill up the car and head out to a studio. So, we brought the studio to them. We did a newborn/family session in their home to make things more comfortable for everyone. We have a very simple one light setup that gives us a really beautiful natural light look to all our portraits, you’d swear we shoot right in front of a massive window.
We went outside to the yard and did some family group photos and even got to include some baby chicks. It was great letting the family interact as they normally would and we got to just capture the moments as they happened.
If you’re expecting any time soon and want to start creating your family portraits, give us a call, we can bring our studio to you! Same beautiful portraits, same high quality images, just in the comfort of your home.
For the tech folks, these images were shot with a Nikon D850, Nikon D4, Hasselblad H1 with Kodak Portra 400. In home portraits we used the new Westcott FJ400 strobe.
